New Emeritus Professor announced
The inventor of one of the Centre’s most influential technologies has been recognised with a special accolade.

Professor Iain Mason, from the University of Sydney, has been awarded the title of Emeritus Professor, based on his “substantial and sustained contribution to the University of Sydney’s currently held international reputation for excellence in the research and teaching of geophysics, in particular in the area of mine-site exploration.”

Emeritus Professor Mason’s appointment was confirmed by the University of Sydney Senate’s Chair Appointments Committee in May.
Emeritus Professor Mason was the inventor of the Centre’s borehole radar technology, now being marketed as a commercial product through CRCMining spin-off company Geomole Pty Ltd.

Emeritus Professor Mason currently acts as Chief Geophyscist with Geomole.

Geomole CEO Charles Golding congratulated Emeritus Professor Mason on his accomplishment, saying it was a fitting award for his sizable contribution to the mining industry.
