CRCMining Australia: Mining Research, Coal Mining, Mechanical Engineering Research Australia

About CRCMining

CRCMining opened its doors on 1st July 2003, commencing an extensive new program of R&D for the mining industry.

The centre will receive $27 million funding from the Commonwealth Government over seven years. This will be matched by about another $100 million of funding from industry and university partners.

In August 2009, the Centre received a $12 million, five-year extension under the CRC program.

CRCMining is an internationally recognised multi-million-dollar mining research centre, established by the Commonwealth Government under the Cooperative Research Centres Programme.

CRCMining is supported by 10 industry and five university participants, including some of the biggest names in the mining business.

Our Vision is to be recognised globally by the mining and equipment manufacturing industries as the leading research and development organisation delivering innovative technologies and systems to the mining industry.

Our Mission
is to deliver a stream of innovative solutions that substantially enhances both safety and productivity (capital and labour) - the benefits - to the global mining industry - the beneficiary - and have these technologies adopted by the industry - the measure of success.

Our Values
  • Representing the highest standards of both the ethics and in the areas of health, safety and the environment.
  • Employing and developing excellent, technologically-driven people.
  • Performing very high quality research and development work through cooperation between different research groups and between researchers and industry personnel.
  • Promoting education in mining.

The Cooperative Research Centres (CRC) Program was established in May 1990 to bring together researchers and research users. CRCMining is one of 42 Cooperative Research Centres (CRCs).

Cooperative Research Centres, or CRCs, are scientific organisations funded by both government and industry as a mechanism to strengthen collaborative research links between industry, research organisations, education institutions and government agencies.

It also has a strong education component with a focus on producing graduates with skills relevant to industry needs.
